CAT3 8158 – 8-wire Impedance Stabilization Network

8-wire Impedance Stabilization Network CAT3 8158
8-wire Impedance Stabilization Network CAT3 8158
ISN T8 CAT3 (LCL = 55 dB) is fully compliant to CISPR 22, CISPR 32 for up to 4 pairs UTP.

The ISN CAT3 8158 allows to perform common mode disturbance voltage measurements on unshielded twisted pairs (UTP) or communication ports with 2, 4, 6 or 8 wires according to CISPR 22, CISPR 32. The Equipment under Test (EuT) or Auxiliary Equipment (AE) can be connected using the RJ-45 sockets. The pin assignment follows EIA/TIA-T568A/B. The electrical circuit of CAT3 8158 is designed according to CISPR 22, figure D.3, CISPR 32, figure G.3.

The ISN-device CAT3 8158 provides an longitudinal conversion loss of typically 55 dB at the EuT port and allows to measure CAT3 devices. There are two further ISN available for measurements of CAT5 devices (CAT5 8158) and CAT6 devices (NTFM 8158) respectively.

In addition to the measurement of disturbance voltage the CAT3 8158 allows to perform measurements of conducted immunity acc. IEC 61000-4-6 up to 80 MHz. An additional 50 Ω to 150 Ω adapter (EAB8 50-150) is required. This adapter can easily be mounted to the CAT3 8158 and is available as an option.

The specification of CAT3 8158 is fully compliant to CISPR 22, CISPR 32 and verified according methods described in CISPR 16-1-2, Annex E.

  • 50 Ω TO 150 Ω Adapter: The EAB8 50-150 allows immunity measurements up to 80 MHz (according to CISPR 35 or EN 55035) in conjunction with CAT3 8158, CAT5 8158 or NTFM 8158. The method for immunity measurement is described in IEC 61000-4-6. The EAB8 50-150 is connected as a module to the NTFM 8158 (CAT3 8158, CAT5 8158).
